CREATIVE TWINNING

The CREATIVE TWINNING cross-border cooperation project between Serbia and Montenegro aims to develop a joint tourism offer focused on the preservation, valorization, interpretation, integration, and promotion of cultural and natural heritage sites, following a modern thematic trail model.
The project is implemented by the Regional Development Agency for Spatial and Economic Development of the Raška and Moravica Districts (RDA) from Serbia, covering the municipalities of Kraljevo, Raška, and Ivanjica, and the NGO Center for Sustainable Tourism Initiatives (CSTI) from Montenegro, covering the territories of the national parks Durmitor, Biogradska Gora, and Prokletije.

The project aims to improve conditions for creating a sustainable tourism offer in cross-border rural and mountainous areas of Serbia and Montenegro. Through planned project activities-such as mapping and interpreting tourist sites, drafting study documentation for identifying and arranging eight thematic trails along with key access paths, educational activities, and more-the quality and diversity of the tourism offer based on the region's cultural and natural heritage will be enhanced.
As the project systematically documents cultural and natural heritage and creates and promotes new tourism products, it will contribute to greater awareness among tourists of what the cross-border area offers and enhance its recognition as a tourist destination. Additionally, the project will improve cross-border cooperation among stakeholders in the region and raise awareness among the local population about the importance of comprehensive cross-border exchange. This will help recognize the potential of the Serbia-Montenegro cross-border region as an integral part of regional economic development strategies.
The project implementation began on March 1, 2021, and will last for 24 months. The total project value is €351,280.00, of which 85% is funded by the European Union. In Montenegro, the project is co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration and Digital Media in the amount of €31,370.00.
