The second series of gastronomy trainings, conducted in order to help small businesses/hosts to improve their products by expanding their knowledge of ingredients, preparation of traditional dishes, and food presentation was held from 17th to 19th March at the HEC Center in Milocer. The focus of these particular training sessions was wine and degustation, honey, and the traditional method of cooking with ‘sač'.
The wine presentation was led by an expert on the subject and representative of Planatze Winery, Dr. Svetozar Savic, and included a discussion about the sensory characteristics of wines. During the honey presentation, led by a renowned pastry chef, participants benefitted from recipes and tips for making traditional cakes, tortes, and cookies made with honey. The session which focused on ‘sač', a type of ceramic pot that is used to cook meat and vegetables, included a field trip to the restaurant Mercur in Budva which uses this traditional manner of cooking. CSTI anticipates that this intensive gastronomy workshop will strengthen the Skadar Lake tourism offering by equipping stakeholders with practical skills, knowledge, and the ability to diversify their products.
The press event on the final day of trainings complemented the theoretical lessons by providing participants with an opportunity to establish linkages in tourism. CSTI anticipates that the press event and meeting with tour agencies will also help spread the word about the wonderful and tasty offerings of Skadar Lake which can be enjoyed along this route.
